Tom McNeil rote, 4/8/96: <<I'm getting used to the idea that whenever you get a really weird notion, it leads to something pretty interesting!>> Either that or I'm in jails on morals charges. No nothing in particular, except that recently I've been noticing myself blowing chips out of vital indexing corners of small jigs. These are situations in which the milling/drilling make fairly small piles of chips, and where the work and the jig are small enough that an vacuum/blower intake is too clumsy. Say, hammer boring or moving the dado on a universal rep. Newton Hunt recommended the vortex chiller which would be overkill in this situation. The stock removal is minimal (far below what would result in heating the tool), and I'm not not worried about whether the torque will drop from 200-95 "/# in the first week. I'd also like to slim down the duty cycle on the compressor, from continuous to just a quick well-timed puff. (Oh all right, you smoked me out, I was making a titanium housing for the tritium trigger of a firecracker, but don't tell the Feds.)
