<<At last request, the Steinway factory sent me cast, treble-style key-block
plates for both ends. Is this all that is available? Must I really
machine, either the block, or the brass casting?
And Who has the definitive, accurate way, to hold tight tolerances, when
plugging the keyframe holes and retapping for the smaller diameter threads
on the newer style square pins?>>

Try this. Yamaha Genuine Parts "Key Flame Guide" (their spelling, not mine)
#T5591600. The last time I ordered them they were 65c apiece. I've made a
template for the area in the keyblock to route out. The frame guide pin is a
#12 Brass RH woodscrew which you can hammer-squash to your wicked heart's
delight. Before you screw it into place, saw off the head and polish the body
and butt end.
