metronome ?

My Wittner metronome has recently developed a decidedly uneven gallop. It no
longer clicks out the reassuring even beat that it always has before. I have
ordered metronomes for clients before. So over and above fixing my own I
would like to know how to fix this problem in case one of my clients
encounters a similar annoyance with one I've sold to them. The gear mechanism
looks simple enough but I don't see what could have gone wrong to cause the
uneven beat. Can anyone help?
Thanks,

P.S. Did the post I sent about needing a S&S upright action for piano #85545
get to anybody? Also did the post about the price and reliability of the
model 6000 Baldwin upright get to anyone? I just wonder if I'm sending
replies in the correct manner for them to be received. I'm new to this
and I am sorry to have to ask. Please forgive me. I ask for your patience.
