Judy,

My own personal experience with this model of instrument has been extremely
good. I have several that I service in homes and 6 that have been in the
practice rooms at Berry College for the last 9 years. These instruments have
held up wonderfully under regular practice room use with basic upkeep and
minimal repairs. The only real problem that I have encountered was hammer
felt coming off of the moulding of a few hammers on one instrument. These
hammers were replaced immediately and we have had no further trouble. The
actions are standard Pratt-Win and have actually held up better in the
practice rooms than some of the imported instruments of the same vintage.
The ton eof this instrument is very full and rich, especially the bass, as
I;m sure you have already found in listening. In fact these are probably the
favored verticals in the music department, with a selection of several sizes
and brands to choose from.

All in all, my experience has been that this is a well built, stable tuning,
good sounding instrument. Of course keep in mind that your technician has to
be familiar with tuning what is considered by some to be a tight pinblock,
but is very stable with the right technique.

Out of all of the instruments that I work on, and I work on just about
everything even though we are a Baldwin dealer, the 6000 has proven to be a
dependable instrument offering a big sound in an upright package. So if you
want one, find a good dealer to back up your purchase and a good technician
to service it for you and you'll wind up good with whatever instrument you
choose.

Hope this helps,
