In a recent post Jerry Anderson cautioned us not to hit the cheek block with a forceful blow for fear of bending the guide pin. I did that once in the presence of Tom Porter (Chicago Chapter) and he almost had a heart attack. He showed me the proper way: When you have the action in and the cheek blocks are close to their proper position, exercise the shift pedal pedal. The cheek blocks will fall into place. No banging is necessary. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Fred W.
