The probility of improving repitition by throwing the action out of design d\specifications is extremely remote. You can experiment but make sure you can return the action of original spec. I would be more inclined to add a little weight to the back of the keys to increase touch weight and maybe increase repitition. The most critical eliment of performance on a vertical action is that the hammer shank does not go past vertical when the hammer is on the string. You might also consider a very small weight at the end of the wippen near the backcheck and bridle wires. This may increase rep. Try a few and see. I have often thought that the major complaints of pianists about verticals is that the vertical action has much less mass than does a grand piano and therefore much less inertia. Perhaps a series of lead weights in the front of the key and some in the rear half of the key to maintain touch and balance weight. Newton nhunt@rci.rutgers.edu
