Got a call to see such a piano. It was a studio. the previous tuner had been
unable to achieve stability. I looked under the wood atop the block and saw
the block had separated from the case entirely. The plate was bowed severely
under the tension.  It took about 2 seconds to find the problem. It was an
economic choice for the client, the piano only cost him $100 plus $200 to
move. It looked good tho. I wish people would have one of us check it out
first sometimes. I took gas money on this one. Sam Grossner chicago.
