I tuned for a concert where they had to mark certain sections of the treble
wires, to slide something from point A to point B (it made a glissando,
interesting sound). They made short marks with black magic marker on the
strings themselves. I took it off easily with a pencil eraser right after
the concert -- seemed to do no harm. You might try it on the bass strings of
a PSO, and see if it was removable from bass strings.
