Nordheimer was a major manufacturer in Canada. The quality was very high. I rebuilt one while studying tuning, and liked it a lot. There's a very good book that talks about Nordheimer: Downright Upright, A History of the Canadian Piano Industry by Wayne Kelly, published in 1991 by Natural Heritage/Natural History Inc., phone: 416-694-7907, FAX: 416-690-6958. People define "antique" differently. Nordheimer began manufacturing in 1886, and was taken over by Heintzman in 1927. The best ones were probably made between these two dates, though Heintzmans weren't bad, either, for awhile longer. Serial No.s: 1890 --2,500; 1895 --3,800; 1900 --5,500; 1905 --7,500; 1910 --11,000; 1915 --15,000; 1920 --18,000; 1925 --21,000; 1930 --22,000; 1935 --22,300; 1940 --23,000; 1945 --24,000; 1950 --25,000; 1955 --25,600; 1960 --27,800. Good luck! I hope it's in good shape. I have a soft spot for the things.
