Baldwin L fallboard

Pat,

Were there also, on the arms of the piano, opposite where the plates would be,
slotted brass plates?

APSCO used to stock what you are looking for, perhaps they still do. If not,
maybe a piano "graveyard" somehwere...

In any event, if memory serves, the missing pieces were actually in two parts
each. One, a brass "washer" of about the diameter you describe; the other,
a flanged brass pin, which, installed with the flange on the fallboard side
of the "washer", had a pin protruding about 1/8" to 3/32". The distance that
the pin sticks out is/was adjusted by shimming.

Failing being able to produce the correct part, one reasonable repair would be
to use/remanufacture for use, a couple of keyframe guide studs. These are
a little too large a diameter, but are mild steel and can easily be turned
down,
and a keyway cut into the end for installation/adjustment. Side play would
then be adjusted through some combination of metal washers and center
rail punchings. Just think of an S&S fallboard with the mounting plates
on the arms instead of on the cheek blocks...

Hope this helps. Maybe someone out there has the right part.

Best.

Horace
