Avery,

The Henry F Miller spinets you refer to were not, and are not, pianos. The old grands, on the other hand, were quite decent.
In fact, it probably sounds better right now than the piano you're comparing it to.

Some years back I rebuilt a couple of them. Quite decent instruments.
