Bill, Thanks for the input. Unfortunately, the owner isn't willing to spend the money for a complete overhaul of the action, so I'm only fixing the most egregious problems (few broken hammer springs/jack springs). I am replacing all balance and front rail punchings, the hammer rest rail pads and the hammer rest rail cloth. And of course the bridle straps. So, the longer blow distance does make sense.
