	James rattled my chain.

In Canada, we have a 7 percent Goods and Services Tax which is
charged on almost everything. If your total income is over $30,000, you
must charge the tax and remit to the government. However, you can deduct
the amount of GST you paid on business-related expenses.
This requires a lot of bookkeeping and form-filling but there is a
Quick Method. You may simply report your total business income, forget
about claiming the GST you paid and remit 4% or 5%. The difference will
probably cover what you can't claim with this method.
Some provinces have a Provincial Sales Tax on top of the GST.
Thankfully, I do not live in such a province.
