Hi Jerry, Take one of the extra treble hammers and blue in a shank. Harden this hammer with your favorite hammer hardener, but I have used CA glue to get a really hard hammer. Cut the shank to about the right length and try in the piano. If the shank fits too loose in the butt wet the shank and stick it in. Keep cutting small amounts of the shank and testing until you start getting less tone then pull it back a little until you get the most tone again. That is your strike point. If you have an extra butt you can use CA to fix the hammer in place by a drop or two around the shank at the butt. When the glue sets you will have a perfect sample hammer for the treble. I usually use #87 for this setup. Happy hammering. Newton Hunt nhunt@jagat.com
