Lacquer is also a polymerbut even in an open application will take much
longer to cure than acetone desolved plastics.  I like to use clear
acrilic plastics instead of the keytops becauseit lends a warmth to the
tone that key plastic does not.

I think lacquer absorbes moisture far slower, once cured than does other
hardners and that is why Steinway jprefers its use, but they do not wait
long enough for it to cure fwell before applying the second batch and
then they don't wait long enough for that to cure before doing final
voicing.

Acetone allows plastics to reset far faster than lacquer.
