I have some customers who actually ask if vacuum/dishwasher/stereo/talking would bother me while I'm tuning. (music in the workplace _is_ common, after all.) My almost standard response is: "No, I doesn't bother me at all, just so long as you promise to do the same whenever you are playing the piano. That way it will sound the same."
