As to the sweet sounding tunings, we in the St. Louis chapter a number of years ago had a demonstration on unisons. It seems like the preferred sound was not dead on but about 0.5c difference between the strings. This would account for the dry sound if someone really tunes the unisons dead on. It has nothing to do with how but if you actually get there by any means. I would think that most of us that tune with computers tune unison aurally anyway, I certainly do. If you purposely tune your unisons to a small variation to have them sound sweet of course that means the piano is already closer to going out of tune. We strive for perfection knowing we will never reach it but no matter, it is still our goal. James Grebe R.P.T. of the P.T.G. from St. Louis, MO.
