The basic problem is microphone response.  Good microphones to pick up
the frequency range below 60 Hz do exist, but they are large, expensive,
and are not usually found in laptop computers.  If you got a hold of
one of those expensive studio microphones and plugged it in to your laptop,
you might see a different picture.
