Lacking any information from the Pierce Piano Atlas, one has to adopt a
more Zen-like approach to the problem, with an awareness of what cabinet
styles were prevalent when and where a maker might have written a date
on a key or action rail.

With a serial number of 38384, yet no listings in Pierce, one wonders
which number they began with.
