<< List, I tuned a Wellington console by Aoelian today that had false beats
everywhere, even in the single bass strings. Also several notes when
played had a WORBLING ( best description I could come up with) sound to
them. The piano doesn't look like its very old.
Does anyone out there have any ideas as to what might be causing this
strange noise, or is it just the name on the front of the piano that's
 the problem?

 Thanks,
 Worn out after this one

Dick:

This might not be the piano at fault. Was there by any chance a ceiling fan
running at the time you were tuning? This will cause the "worbling" sound you
describe, and cause all the strings to produce the wow wow beats associated
with false beats
