Who wants to know what ??? -----Original Message----- From: Singleton, Roy RXS [mailto:roy.singleton@bellgully.co.nz] Sent: Thursday, September 03, 1998 9:39 AM To: 'Alan W Deverell' Subject: RE: Helmholtz Resonator Can't really follow this. But! I have done quite a bit of work (design, measurement, experiment) with Helmholtz resonators. The trap for the ignorant (most frequently musicians!) is that despite its name the H.R. actually ABSORBS sound. So that large pottery urn and empty gin bottles gracing the music room are actually going to absorb sound over a very narrow bands of frequencies (high Q). Similarly the bass reflex speakers. All these items should be chosen carefully to minimize the room and piano defects (TIC). > -----Original Message----- > From: Alan W Deverell [SMTP:aland@casa.co.nz] > Sent: Wednesday, September 02, 1998 10:56 PM > To: Singleton, Roy RXS > Subject: FW: Helmholtz Resonator > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-pianotech@ptg.org [mailto:owner-pianotech@ptg.org] On > Behalf > Of Richard Moody > Sent: Wednesday, September 02, 1998 9:40 PM > To: pianotech@ptg.org > Subject: Helmholtz Resonator > > > Jim, > The Helmholtz resonator, do I have to dig into Dolge?.
