Doesn't anyone use steam to remove damper heads?

I have been doing it for years with 95% success, - and it is very fast,
especially if some water/alcohol was injected into the felt a few minutes
before the steam.

The 95% relates to the fact that there are now some new glues used that do not
soften with steam. On those I have rigged a belt sander to cut through the
glue line to the wood. A mess of wool lint, but effective and does a nice even
job.
