Doesn't anyone use steam to remove damper heads? I have been doing it for years with 95% success, - and it is very fast, especially if some water/alcohol was injected into the felt a few minutes before the steam. The 95% relates to the fact that there are now some new glues used that do not soften with steam. On those I have rigged a belt sander to cut through the glue line to the wood. A mess of wool lint, but effective and does a nice even job. Bill Simon, Phoenix
