Hi Dale,
I use the "common term" rebuilt not meaning everything was replaced. I do
not know who did the work. Replaced hammers were strings, dampers, pins,
soundboard shimmed, refinished, and I don't remember for sure if the shanks
were replaced. It was a nice job whoever did it and given the lack of use
that it receives in its home wear wise< that was enough. For the purists,
no not everything was replaced. It does have a good solid sound and feel
to it, although a concert pianist might not approve, but then...
The rebuilt, recondition, remanufactured, replaced question is still at
play here. I think that this is a example of just lack of use and it just
got more sluggish because of it. We'll see how it is doing next year.
That is how often I tuned it for them whether they need it or not. :>)
I have several clients who have purchased older "B"'s for home use who are
not great musicians but have the money and the big house and why not.
Hope that answered as good as I could.
