Grommets

Friends:

On Monday I replaced my first set of the doughnut-shaped grommets on the
sticker wires of a Baldwin Acrosonic spinet.

I believe it was Jim Harvey (?) who said something he wanted to try
sometime was cutting the grommet to get it on the wire and be careful to
position the cut at the back of the fork. So I tried one, but I don't
recommend it. It was time-consuming to see that the position was
correct. And, if you ever have to remove the action in the future, you
will be a very unhappy camper, having to line up all those cuts again
when otherwise you can easily push them off or on.

I also decided against removing the wires at the bottom to slide the
grommets on. It just looked like I was asking for trouble. All things
considered, I liked it best just taking off the nuts and felt washers to
get the new ones on. Thought this might be of use to someone.
