Enlarging Castor Recesses

Hi Ed,
I am certainly glad that you asked this question. I have been
unsatisfied with all the methods I have used.
1) The thick washer to build it out.
2) Using a router.
3) Using a hammer and chisel.
4) Using a power file.
5) Resorting to plate casters.
My next  try,was going to be a 3 1/2" hole saw.
I am eagerly awaiting the other solutions.
