Baldwin Piano & Organ to buy piano plates from Southland Marketing Baldwin Piano & Organ Co. of Mason has signed a ten-year agreement to purchase piano plates, the cast iron frame that provides structure and support to the internal components of pianos, from Southland Marketing Inc. of Maumelle, Ark. Baldwin officials said the deal was made to assure the company a long-term supply of quality plates at predictable prices. Baldwin also made an undisclosed capital investment in Southland to help finance the purchase of the five-axis drilling and machining equipment needed for the special requirements of piano plate finishing.
