Also, FWIW, and, besides, no one else has answered this
particular question corrrectly (yet)....

In the bad old days, when people actually had to learn how
to tune with their ears, such sets were used to teach beat rates
between intervals other than 2/3, 4/5, etc.

Yes, yes, I know, there are some twits who would try to set a
temperament directly with such a method...
