I used a tool that adjusts the letoff screw (eye-type) to remove the screws once. It's the tool that allows you to access the screw-eye from any angle. It fits nicely into the hole and grabs the end of the screw enough to get it out (assuming that the screw isn't too tight in the wood). Then you need to drill a tiny hole and use an easy-out.
