If there is no sostenuto _bar_, are there a series of moving struts or arms
with small holes at the end?

If so, it may have had a cord (silk?) or wire strung between them to serve
as the tab "catcher".

I think it was Ivers & Pond had a system like that, but I haven't seen one
in years.
