tight dowel hole

Wim,

The surface of most dowels tends to be a bit rough.  Try polishing/burnishing that
portion of the dowel that goes through the felted hole on a buffing wheel -- yes,
the same type of buffing wheel and compound you use for polishing brass, etc. --
until it has a glassy smooth surface.  I do this on all of the wood pitmans that
go through felted holes in keybeds as well.
