OK, OK. so maybe I misspoke. ;-{   I'll go home now and sit in the corner
thinking about what I said.  Sin in haste, repent at leisure?

I actually haven't used silicone for years. Musta still been on a sugar
high after my doughnut.

If anything, I now would use McLube 1725 and double check alignment of
parts to see if the underlying reason isn't the rod going through the hole
at an angle vs: straight up and down. Any angle present will eventually
wear off any lubricant and you are back to square one.

Like someone else said, it really shouldn't even be touching the felt.
