I don't use a Wonderwand, just a regular old generic tuning hammer.  Always
have spare tuning hammers around, and should (don't always) have an extra
shaft and identical tip for the one I use.  Haven't had a wrench break in
about 1 1/2 years - but I'm not tuning quite as many Baldwins and Kawais as I
used to - 

The shaft is pretty hard and I never considered using an easyout - too much
trouble.
