Bill, Remove one lifter wire to use for a tap. Fasten it in a vise, leaving the threaded end protruding from the jaws. Use Protek for cutting lube. Chuck the Schaff Kimball lost mostion regulator tool in a reversible low speed drill. Insert a sticker grommet in the tool, spin onto the wire, reverse off, spin on to wire in the piano. Of course your idea of using a tap would work well also. Like you, I was not sure what size to bring. It is smaller than 6-32 I believe, I was out in the country, the sun was in my eyes...you know the story....:>) By the way, we are going great guns on the Reno Convention, hope to see ya'll there!! Whenever I do this job I find that so many of the adjusters are so badly made that just trying to screw them on is either impossible and tears the fiber square apart, or they disassemble themselves. I was planning to run a tap through the fiber square to "pretreat" the adjuster and have fewer problems during istallation, but I have no sample of the wires they go on. Does anyone know what size thread the wires have? I seem to remember it is something like 6-32, ( #6 size, 32 threads per inch) but it might be an oddball size. I would appreciate any info from someone who can compare the threads to a known size. Thanks, Bill Simon Phoenix
