Disc piano comparisons

Hi Wim,

You're bringing up an excellent point. From my limited experience, I have
seen too many player systems put on cheap pianos.

We see nice pianos set up in a dealer's showroom. You know, the display
model(s). It might be a fairly high quality piano set up with a nice player
system. Then when Mr. & Mrs. "I want the Cadillac, but oh, by the way, I
can only afford the Yugo" come walking in, what happens?

"Well, the model we have on display is listed at $34,000. But you can get
one of our "good quality (__fill in cheapest of the cheap pianos__)" pianos
with the very same player system that you love so much for a mere $16,995,
isn't that just wonderful???" <never mind the piece of junk that the player
will get attached to will barely be playable to begin with, let alone after
a couple of years of torture that the player will put it through> "Would
you like that in the Ebony polish, or the Ebony satin??" and lest we
forget, "Will you be making your down payment by check or credit card??"

It just gives me a sour taste in my mouth every time I see one of these.
When we see a combination of a piano that 'just works, but nothing more',
and a player system that's set up to 'just play, nothing more', we end up
with a pretty poor example of quality. Talk about multiplying errors.

I've never had the opportunity to say it personally, but I can just imagine
how it might feel to tell someone that "I won't put a player system on that
piece of junk piano. Get a real piano and we'll talk about it!" ...it
actually felt pretty good just to type it! <grin>
