I've mentioned this before...if you strip mute, consider inserting one strip every other space between unisons...sort of like in the bass with a strip mute. Then insert the other strip in the open spaces and voila...when done tuning the middle strings, pull out "one strip and tune every other outside string. No mutes needed. Then the other strip and back up tuning the other side of the unison. Try it!
