customer perception - was Re: Unison Width - was stability issue

Hi all,

I too, think Ron's posting on explaining everything to piano owners is spot on. I'm a player, not a tech, and I can tell you that, hard as it might be to imagine, I grew up playing pianos, and attended the Peabody Conservatory prep and college, but until last year knew absolutely ZERO about how pianos work or how they are manufactured, tuned, or serviced. And I really don't think I'm unusual in this way; the vast majority of professional pianists have no clue either, let alone the average home owner.

Given this, it's easy to see how owners could remember bits and pieces of what they've been told, or not told, and cling to them. I, for one, want to know everyone's opinions, their experiences, and their advice, plus I want to read and see enough independently to be able to make up my own mind. My grand piano is my largest investment, next to my house. So for me, a technician who won't tell me what's on his mind, won't be back. ;-)

Best Regards,
Greg
