>Hi David, I must have missed some thing, what is this trip about? >Roger > (Well, since you asked, Roger, and since some of us missed Ed's post, here's the content of the PTA web page describing the PTA/IAPBT Conventions which are the focus of the IAPBT trip/tour.) Pianoforte Tuners' Association Convention Friday 11th May to Sunday 13th May 2001 Once again, as at the Marks Tey Hotel in 1993, it will be a great pleasure for the PTA to host the 12th IAPBT A.G.M. in conjunction with the PTA's Annual Convention in May 2001. The venue for this event, which we hope will be memorable, will be the Jarvis International Hotel, Redcliffe Way, Bristol BS1 6NJ. It has 201 en-suite bedrooms with satellite TV, inhouse movies, radio, direct dial telephone, hairdryer, trouser press and tea/coffee facility. Poolside Leisure Club with indoor swimming pool, gymnasium, sauna and steam room. The hotel is close to the M32 and M4 motorways and has parking for 150 cars. Temple Meads railway station is a quarter of a mile away, and Bristol airport is seven and a half miles distant. Situated beside the magnificent St Mary Redcliffe Church founded in 1292, the hotel is only a short walk from the harbour and the central shopping area. Bristol is the home of two of Isambard Kingdom Brunel's famous engineering feats - the SS Great Britain, the first propeller-driven ocean vessel built in 1845, and the Clifton Suspension Bridge, carrying the road 245 feet above the dramatic Avon Gorge. Within a thirty-mile radius are the renowned spa town of Bath, and two of England's finest cathedrals - Wells and Gloucester. With geological marvels such as the Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole also close at hand, Bristol is the perfect place to start a tour of the south-western corner of England and the southern part of Wales. It is hoped that delegates will be able to extend their visit to explore some of England's secret places. For more tourist information contact: www.about-bristol.co.uk The Convention will take place from Friday 11th May to Sunday 13th May 2001, and we hope you will be able to attend.
