Hi there Maria... I have never been a fan of indiscrimant wheel
installation either. There are a couple ways of dealing with this... one is
to use so-called transport wheels that are on thick metal brackets which
bend around the underside of the piano. Problem with these are that they
kinda stick out a bit on the front and back of the piano,,, not so pretty
really.

Another approach is to weld on pedal extenders. Only problem with this is
that it doesnt address that fact that the keyboard has also been raised a
bunch by regular wheels.

On some pianos you can countersink the wheels into the bottom of the piano.
If you can, then this generally is the way to go, but it is of course a bit
more expensive.

You could also build a platform for the pianist to sit on that takes up the
difference caused by the wheels.
