I have scanned two S&S shanks from the same piano( "L"). The scan is in color and about 330K in size. The hammers are #1 and #2 from the same action. One is felt, the other leather. If there is interest in seeing these I will be glad to send to list or private as necessary. The scan shows how well each held up over the years. btw shanks are teflon bushed - which is more than evident in the scan. John R.
