I've done tuning in a recording studio setting and an interesting thing to 
keep in mind is this: When pianos are miked for recording, the mikes pick up 
every little tiny sound.  For example, the damper wires sliding through the 
bushings, while marginally noticeable to our ear, can sound like sliding a 
desk across a room.  Maybe I exaggerate a little but my point is this: any 
little waver in a unison is magnified multi-fold by studio microphones - 
which makes it seem more odd that your client thought the tuning was to clean.
