Hi,

my father had an interesting experience yesterday. He went to tune a
Steinway O, which he had tuned two years earlier.

O.K.

The owner, a philosophically thinking elderly gentleman said there might be
something wrong with the tuning pins, that they might be a little loose.
Dad says that would be strange. He checks the pitch. A half tone flat!
He asked the man what on earth could have caused this.

"Well, I was just fixing it a little", he said.

He had started on one string and just kept going.

"It was like a decorated Christmas tree" was my father´s exact wording.

My father was a little pissed by this idiocy. Didn´t show it though.

When he started tuning he noticed that the keys were hitting the key slip,
and the key blocks were loose.

"Did you try to take the action out, by any chance", he asked.

"Well, I was just vacuuming it a little bit", was the answer.

Jeeze,
