Absolute pitch again.

Hi there boys and girls... ran into another absolute pitch experience
today. First one I have had a chance to talk to for a while and I jumped at
the opportunity to ask them about a couple things that have been bothering
me about this..

I asked the customer how he thought he was able to identify tones and
chords. He said immediatly he could tell by their colour.. especially
chords.. I said of course that this made no real sense as colour in the
traditional sense did not exist really in a ET tuned piano. He simply said
"nonsense" and snikered at me a bit as if he had revealed some ignorance on
my part. So I pointed out that the only really difference between a major
chord starting here or one starting there was the quickness of beating ,
and that that increased evenly as one goes up the scale. He sorta looked at
me with a confused look and said... "whats that got to do with it".

This fellow knows a bit about beating and whatnot... tho he knows nothing
about how pianos are tuned, one way or the other... so he says. He says he
has heard and played on a few pianos tuned in various HT configurations,
and still says that the colour of keys remain the same... they just get a
bit differerent "tint".. thats what he said... "tint"

Anyways... I thought I'd throw this one out there as I thought it was it
was interesting .
