Action friction reduction question

Kristinn:  I've heard that in the old days that piano techs in Florida
would go to the local filling station and get a quart of gasoline, sprinkle
it on the  swollen action and set it in the sun for a few hours.  That
would keep the old gal going for maybe another year.

If it's a spinet, you might just strike a match.
