Hi List. In answer to Pats enquiry about which pianos to raise to A440 the only way he will know is by trial and error. After a while (quite a while) he will learn that there are some pianos that raising pitch is NOT an option, while others you feel very confident raising a semitone or even a full tone. But until he goes through the learning curve of breaking strings,endless retuning,Customers complaining to their friends that your tuning does not hold very well,...it can be a hard lesson to learn. As a rule of thumb the older the piano is the more chance of tuning instability and breaking strings being the end result.
