Ear plugs

I was convinced by a local tech to go to an audiologist, have my hearing
tested, then get VERY expensive, custom fitted earplugs, which come with
six different sets of "filters", which, as I understand, use an
electrical unit as their standard, rather than DB. It's the filters which
make them horribly expensive. Later sets, either with only one set of
filters, or none at all, are much less. I've used mine for four years,
and am really pleased. Partials are still easily heard, but a lot of
background noise and the first plosive sound of hammer striking string is
greatly muted.
