So, Del, 
Would you be able to give a quick synopsis of the essential differences 
between designing with a solid spruce sbd panel and a laminated (any species) 
board? I'm not asking for trade secrets or an extended treatise, just a list 
of the principles. For instance, it's easy to thin a solid board around the 
edges. Can this effect be replaced in a uniform-thickness panel by bridge 
placement and backscale length? Or do you taper the outside laminae? What 
other factors do you look at besides overall mass and stiffness?
