I'm with ya, Ed.  I feel the same way about pinblock fit.

(I think Jim was just havin' some fun with his post about 1".)

I guess there's actually a number of ways to accomplish the whole thing.
You and I tend to want to do the woodworking, probably because we love that
part of this work, which I happen to think is a valid reason for fitting
pinblocks that way.  And then there's the Baldwin method where they just
fill any gap that may be there with epoxy.  And from what I've seen, it
seems to work very well, and is no doubt efficient and practical.

But there is something that just feels right about carving out that piece of
wood.  It feels like we're craftsmen when we accomplish something like that.
It's sort of the same thing with laying out and notching a bridge for me
too...  but that's another topic...
