Ebony finishes come in two flavors...those oversprayed with clear and those not oversprayed with clear. In either case it may be possible to 'rub' out the whitening that is discoloring the customers lid. Start with a 'light sanding' using 400/600 paper. Next, use a wool wax, 0000 steel wool or the grey type finishing pad and rub in the same direction as the original strokes. If it not oversprayed with clear this should take care of the discoloration....if it is oversprayed with clear it is possible that you will rub through the clear coat in various places and there will be differences in the 'sheen'...if this happens new clear coat is called for, something I would not try in a customers home...your mileage may differ though :-) Hopefully someone else will come up with a better technique for y'all.
