I don't use them on Steinways but I know some who do.  I prefer to use a 
Steinway hammer on a Steinway.  It requires a lot of lacquering but it seems 
that I can get a broader tonal pallette.  I have replaced so many sets now 
that I feel comfortable prelacquering them which saves a little time.  They 
are labor intensive.
