This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment Terry, Once you are set up to do the actual work, even a novice could restring = in an hour or so. I once did a complete bass section with a helper in a = half an hour. No big deal. I have all my pins ready at hand, tools all = laid out and wire partially laid out with the helper feeding me the wire = and putting on the hitch pins and thru the bridge pins. New products that may be incorporated in the next project are bass = strings from Arledge Music wire which require no twisting and Larudee = Lo-torq tunings pins. These are oversized pins but the head and coil = sections are 1/0 or 2/0. Should make my replacement time even faster! By the way, we just got back from a great convention in Reno where I saw = the above mentioned products. If you didn't go you missed a good one. = Even the hotel chow was great. I have a customer who wants the bass section of her 1914 Howard = upright=20 re-strung, but I'm not sure i want to take on the task. There are 42 = total=20 bass strings; 10 mono/32bi-chords. I've left the original strings on = so as=20 not to overstress the 87 year old+ full upright, as i thought it would = be=20 safer to take off old, replace with new as i go. But even at only 10 = minutes=20 per string (old off-new on) it's gonna take over EIGHT HOURS!!! So i'm = thinking maybe I should refer it to another tech who has done lots of = this=20 type stuff before. Thoughts? regards all!
